Hematology and Oncology Mission Statement

To deliver state-of the-art medical care to our clients in a courteous, timely, and cost-effective manner.

Achievement of this mission is based on teamwork with each member of the team performing their duties to the maximum of their ability so that optimal patient care is achieved. Each member of the team is crucial to realization of the mission and to the team’s success. Input from all members of the team is mandatory to achieve the stated goals.

Each individual’s activities should be structured such that the next individual’s job will be made easier. To achieve this goal, all members of the team must communicate with each other, sharing information and being sensitive to one another’s needs. In this way the “system” will succeed and optimal patient satisfaction will be achieved.

Physicians, nurses, administrative and research personnel all share in these responsibilities. ALL must be aware of how they impact the responsibilities of the others. Each should put him or herself in the other guy’s shoes and perform their tasks in such a way that minimal interruptions in the flow of information and care occur. The keys are anticipation, co-operation, responsibility, respect, and communication. Working together we can achieve these goals and foster the growth of the Hematology/Oncology Division of Virginia Physicians, Inc.
