1. All patient test results will be handled with confidentiality.
2. Laboratory test results will be sent to only the Virginia Physicians, Inc. physician who ordered the test or to a Virginia Physicians, Inc. physician who is treating the patient.
3. The laboratory will not release results to a patient. The patient’s physician must handle this.
4. The laboratory will not fax results to any fax number except one on the HIPPA approved list.
5. The laboratory will not fax results except to a Virginia Physicians, Inc. physician.
6. Lab results if sent by inter-department mail will be placed in an inter-department envelope and appropriately sealed.

NOTE: At the present time, lab results print directly to the ordering physician’s office according to a scheduled print time set up in the Laboratory information system.
