I am aware of and embrace alternative and complementary approaches to health. I work with my patients to develop a plan of care that offers the best of many healing traditions but is firmly grounded in traditional Western medicine.

After spending 12 years in the corporate world, I had an early mid-life crisis and worked with gifted career counselors. As a result, I determined that my true calling was in health care. I’ve been in practice as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) since 2001, and an Adult Nurse Practitioner since 2008. I absolutely love what I do! I recently completed a post-Masters in Adult Health, because the increased scope of practice allows me to more comprehensively deal with my patients and their needs. It is my privilege to care for women and men, as well as children age 12 and older.

My education includes a Bachelor’s degree in economics from The College of William and Mary (1985), a Bachelor’s in nursing magna cum laude from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University (1999), a Master’s degree in nursing from MCV/VCU (2000), and a post-Master’s certificate in Adult Health (Primary Care) in December 2007. I am a licensed registered nurse, a WHNP and an ANP with prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I am dual-certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner (Primary Care) and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.

My relevant work experience has been as an R.N. in labor and delivery at Memorial Regional Medical Center, an R.N. at Patient First, and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at VCU/MCV’s department of OB/GYN (Nelson Clinic and Stony Point), Fan Free Clinic, Virginia Gynecologic Oncology, and Richmond Family Practice/Retreat Hospital. I currently practice at Midlothian Medical Care full-time.
